8 Tips to Help You Maximize Route Planning | Great West Casualty

Planning your route in advance may seem burdensome at first, but in the long run may be worth it if it makes you safer, helps you avoid unnecessary delays, and cuts down on your stress. Below are eight trip-planning tips to help you be more efficient. Consider these ideas before your next dispatch and decide where you can make improvements.

TIP 1

Make trip planning part of your pre-trip inspection routine.

TIP 2

Verify your route using multiple resources (i.e., GPS, atlas, etc.).

TIP 3

Program your GPS device or write down the directions.

TIP 4

Be mindful of road closures, tolls, construction, and other potential delays on your route.

TIP 5

Plan when and where you will take breaks. Note primary and secondary stops along your route.

Check the weather forecast along your route and plan accordingly.

TIP 7

Try to time your route to avoid rush hour in big cities.

Identify safe and legal parking locations along your route.
